Faces to NDI, live

Yewee

Point a camera at a crowd. Get faces on your mixer.

Yewee finds and follows every face in shot and sends the result straight to your vision mixer over NDI, plus Syphon and Spout for the VJ rig next to it. You drive the whole thing from a browser on your phone.

Version 1.4 · 31 Jul 2026 · Release notes ↗

The full app, with nothing disabled and no account. The installer brings everything with it: no Python, no model downloads, no NDI SDK.

What it does

Four feeds

Program with tracking graphics, an overlay on real transparency, a faces cutout, and the mask on its own. Send each over NDI, Syphon or Spout, or both at once.

Runs from your phone

The control panel is a web page on your network, so you can tune it from front of house while the machine sits on stage.

Fails quietly

Camera unplugged mid-show? Outputs cut to black rather than an error, and reconnect by themselves when the signal returns.

Never eats the machine

A load meter shows what each feature costs, and an optional relief valve sheds quality rather than dropping frames.

Any source

Webcams, USB and PCIe capture cards from Blackmagic, Magewell, AJA and Elgato, and NDI feeds from elsewhere on the network.

Test card built in

Bars, feed identity and a running clock on every feed, so a frozen link is obvious before doors.

Getting started

  1. Download

Pick the installer for your platform.

  2. First launch

It asks for camera permission and opens the control panel. The macOS build is signed but not yet notarised, so right-click and choose Open the first time; on Windows, SmartScreen may ask you to choose Run anyway.

  3. Route the feeds

Pick up the NDI, Syphon or Spout feeds in your mixer, and prove the chain with the test card.

Worth knowing

It does not know who anyone is

Yewee detects and follows faces. It does not perform facial recognition, matches nobody against a database, and stores no images or video. Expression labels, if switched on, are a cosmetic estimate drawn on the picture and never recorded.

Dozens of faces

Tracking cost barely moves with crowd size. What costs is how hard you ask it to look for small, distant faces, and the panel shows that trade in milliseconds as you change it.
