Datamosh 1.0
Installing
Install Datamosh on macOS or Windows, start the free trial or enter your licence key, update to a new version, and uninstall.
Download Datamosh from the Datamosh page or
the releases page.
Every release has three downloads: a macOS installer (.pkg), a Windows zip
and a macOS zip.
macOS
The installer
- Download
datamosh-<version>-macos.pkg. - Double-click it and follow the prompts.
- Tick Arena, Avenue or both.
- Start Resolume.
The installer is signed and notarised by Apple, so there is no security
warning, nothing to type into Terminal and no administrator password. It
installs into your own Documents folder:
~/Documents/Resolume Arena/Extra Effects/ (and the Avenue equivalent if
you ticked it).
The plugins are universal, so they run natively on Apple Silicon (Resolume 7.11 or later) and on Intel Macs.
The zip, if you would rather copy files by hand
-
Unzip
datamosh-<version>-macos-universal.zip. -
Copy
Datamosh.bundleandDatamoshTransplant.bundleinto~/Documents/Resolume Arena/Extra Effects/(or~/Documents/Resolume Avenue/Extra Effects/). -
Clear the quarantine flag macOS puts on anything unzipped from a download. In Terminal:
xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine ~/Documents/Resolume\ Arena/Extra\ Effects/Datamosh.bundle xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine ~/Documents/Resolume\ Arena/Extra\ Effects/DatamoshTransplant.bundle -
Start Resolume.
Windows
- Download
datamosh-<version>-windows-x64.zipand unzip it. - Copy
Datamosh.dllandDatamoshTransplant.dllintoDocuments\Resolume Arena\Extra Effects\(orDocuments\Resolume Avenue\Extra Effects\). Create the folder if it does not exist. - Start Resolume.
You do not need to right-click the DLLs and tick Unblock. That advice is real for some other kinds of plugin, but Resolume loads these either way.
If your Documents folder lives in OneDrive, Resolume reads the OneDrive copy. Put the DLLs there. You can also point Resolume at any folder in Preferences → Video.
First launch
Start Resolume and check both plugins are there:
- Datamosh is in the Effects list.
- Mosh Transplant is in a layer's blend-mode dropdown, not the Effects list.
Drop Datamosh on a layer. At the bottom of its parameters is a text field
called Licence. On a computer that has never had a licence or a trial,
it reads Licence: locked, unlicensed, and the effect passes video through
untouched until you start the trial or enter a key.
The trial
Datamosh has a free 30-day trial, with nothing held back.
- Click the Licence field on Datamosh or Mosh Transplant.
- Type your email address and press Enter.
The field empties, and within a few seconds its name changes to
Licence: trial, N days left, counting down. Effects already in your
composition unlock straight away. The trial runs on this computer for
30 days.
Your licence key
When you buy Datamosh you get a key that starts LT-DATA-.
- Click the Licence field.
- Type or paste the key and press Enter.
The field's name changes to Licence: activating... and then
Licence: active. Case, spaces and look-alike characters (O and 0, I,
L and 1) do not matter. One licence covers both plugins and runs on
2 computers at a time.
Activation needs the internet once. For a computer that is never online, see Offline activation. Everything else you can type into the field is on the Licence field page.
Updating
Quit Resolume and install the new version over the old one: run the new
installer, or replace the two files in Extra Effects. Your licence stays,
and compositions saved with an older version open as before, because the
plugins' identities never change between versions.
To see which version you have: on macOS, select Datamosh.bundle in Finder
and choose Get Info; on Windows, right-click Datamosh.dll, choose
Properties and open Details. Inside Resolume, the version is at the end
of the effect's description.
Uninstalling
- If you are moving your licence to another computer, first type
deactivateinto the Licence field and press Enter. That frees this computer's seat. - Quit Resolume.
- Delete
DatamoshandDatamoshTransplant(.bundleon macOS,.dllon Windows) fromExtra Effects.
The licence itself lives in a folder of its own, which you can delete too:
- macOS:
~/Library/Application Support/LeTissier/Datamosh/ - Windows:
%APPDATA%\LeTissier\Datamosh\
