Yewee 1.0

Two cameras on one machine

Run two copies of Yewee side by side, each with its own camera, feed names and control panel.

One copy of Yewee tracks one source. To track two cameras from one machine, start Yewee twice, giving the second copy its own feed names and its own panel port.

Start the second copy

Start the first one as usual. Start the second from a Command Prompt or Terminal (see Starting Yewee with flags) with three flags:

yewee --ndi-name Cam2 --web-port 8090 --source "cam:Cam Link 4K"

In place of yewee, use the full path to the program shown on that page.

  • --ndi-name gives its feeds their own names: STAGEPC (Cam2), STAGEPC (Cam2 Overlay) and so on over NDI, and yewee-Cam2, yewee-Cam2-overlay and so on over Syphon or Spout. Two copies with the same names clash, and NDI can crash on it.
  • --web-port gives it its own panel, here http://localhost:8090. Without it, the second launch sees the first copy's panel and just opens that.
  • --source picks its camera. Use the camera's name as the Video source list shows it, without the size in brackets, with cam: in front, or ndi: and an NDI source's name.

The second copy's panel address for phones is the same as the first's with :8090 at the end. The PIN is the same for both.

Give all three flags every time you start the second copy: they aren't saved.

They share their settings

The installed app keeps one settings file per user, and both copies read and write it (see Where Yewee keeps things). So:

  • Both start with the same saved settings. While running, each copy keeps its own; whichever panel was changed last is what both start with next time.
  • Always start the second copy with --source, or it opens the first copy's camera.
  • Give feed switches and anything else that should differ as flags, or set them in each panel after launch.

Run from source, each checkout folder keeps its own settings; two checkouts are fully independent.

Load

Two copies do twice the work. Watch both panels' load chips, and in each switch on Limit CPU use in Machine load so neither starves the other. On a Windows machine with an NVIDIA GPU, both can use it.

Two cameras into one feed

Yewee can't combine two sources into one picture. Mix or split-screen the two cameras first (in a mixer, or with an NDI tool that combines sources) and give Yewee the result as one source.
